Sun
What this is
The Sun is the centre and the source, the visible god of the sphere you live in. Where the other six wandering lights borrow their fire, the Sun gives it, and everything else in the week turns on what it is doing. It is the one light that defines the day itself, and on the Tree of Life it sits at Tiphareth, the heart, where divine glory becomes bearable to human sight.
What it governs
It rules Sunday outright and presides over the planetary hours that return its keynote through every day of the week. Its sphere is Tiphareth, Beauty, the balance-point on the Middle Pillar; its sign is Leo; its element is fire. In a life it governs vitality, success, leadership, the father and the king, the Higher Self, and the solar consciousness that holds a thing together at its core.
Its properties
Its colour is gold and solar yellow, its metal gold, its stones topaz, amber, and diamond; its number is six, the heart of the kamea whose magic constant is 111 and whose whole sums to the great solar 666. The incense is frankincense and the plants are sunflower, chamomile, saffron, and bay laurel. Upright it is illumination, courage, the warmth that lets others grow in its light. Its shadow is Sorath, the burning ego — pride, tyranny, the centre gone blind to everyone it claims to warm, the king who scorches instead of giving heat.
Where else it appears
The same note sounds in every skin. The Greeks called him Helios and then Apollo, lord of light and prophecy; Egypt knew Ra crossing the sky in his barque; the Celts kept bright Lugh of the long hand. On the Tree it is Tiphareth, the sphere of the sacrificed and risen king, where Michael stands with his sword of solar fire — the same Michael invoked at the South of the banishing circle. Frankincense burning on a Sunday morning, a hymn to Apollo, and the raising of Ra are one act in three sets of clothes, and the hermetic teaching names it plainly: the All is Mind.
Where you meet it on the Oracle
The Sun is the spine of the whole Oracle. It anchors The Day surface above all others, and on its own day everything in your reading is keyed to the heart, to the central thing. It also returns as a recurring planetary hour through every day of the week, so when its hour opens the window is solar — the time for the one thing you would put your name to. When the Sun comes up for you, read it as a call to act from the centre rather than the edges: be seen, do the thing that matters most, and let your warmth give rather than demand.
Why it matters
It is so because there is one centre and you are meant to find yours; the Sun is the pattern of that. It matters because a life without a centre scatters, and the work of becoming whole is the work of letting your own heart take the place the Sun holds in the sky. What it asks is simple and hard: shine without scorching, give light, and let yourself be seen as you are.
