One — The Initiator
One is the Monad, the point before the line, the indivisible centre from which every other number unfolds.

Two — The Mediator
Two is the Dyad, the first division of the One into a self and an other, the line drawn between two points.

Three — The Creator
Three is the Triad, the first closed figure and the first plane — the third thing born when two opposites meet and resolve.

Four — The Builder
Four is the Tetrad, the square and the first solid — the number of the made world and the foundation on which any building stands.

Five — The Adventurer
Five is the Pentad, the human number — the four of the settled world plus the one that moves through it and changes it.

Six — The Nurturer
Six is the Hexad, the first perfect number — one, two and three add to it and multiply to it alike.

Seven — The Seeker
Seven is the Heptad, the sacred number by which the old world ordered time and heaven — seven planets, seven days, seven notes, seven veils.

Eight — The Power
Eight is the Ogdoad, the number of regeneration and of power held in balance.

Nine — The Sage
Nine is the Ennead, the last single digit and the number that cannot be diminished — every multiplication of nine reduces back to nine.
