Hebrew Vav: 'nail' — the pin that holds the heavens and the earth together. The Hierophant is the High Priest of the temple, the one who speaks for the collective faith. In the reading he asks: what older teaching is available to you that your preferences would refuse? The chain of teachers is longer than your life.
