What am I looking at?
- The circle is the whole sky, flattened onto a page. The twelve signs run round the rim.
- The symbols on the ring are the planets where they are right now. This is the sky itself, the same for everybody.
- The middle is empty because we do not know your birth date yet. That is what fills it: your own planets, and the lines between them.

What the words mean
- Conjunction
- Two bodies within orb of the same degree: the two natures fuse and cannot easily be told apart in the effect.
- Opposition
- 180° apart: the two ends are in full view of one another, which makes an opposition the most conscious of the hard angles.
- Square
- 90° apart: signs of the same mode but different element, which is why the friction has no shared ground to resolve on.
- Trine
- 120° apart, in signs of the same element: the two natures run with the grain of each other.
- Sextile
- 60° apart, in compatible elements: an opportunity that requires deliberate action to come to anything.
- Orb
- The permitted deviation from exactitude, usually wider for the luminaries and narrower for the outer bodies.
- Tropical zodiac
- Ecliptic longitude measured from the vernal equinox — a zodiac of seasons rather than of stars.
